telegate enters into sales alliance with Google

One-stop shopping for industry advertising and search engine marketing


Munich, July 21st, 2008 - The “local search” specialist telegate will be an authorised reseller of the Google advertising program “AdWords.” Thus, the 400-person sales team of telegate Media will now be marketing not only the industry listings in the multichannel directories of 11 88 0 and klickTel, but also keyword advertising within the Google network. This way, companies can purchase industry advertising combined with search engine marketing from a single source.

By means of this alliance, telegate has strengthened its own competitive position as the leading specialized service provider for “local search” services in Germany. More than 200 million consumer search queries are received every year and about 40,000 companies are already regular advertising customers of the company. “As a marketing firm for small and mid-sized companies we now offer “one-stop-advertising” with this cooperation. With the integration of the leading search engine advertising programme into our offer of modern, online directories, we will also further differentiate ourselves from traditional ‘yellow pages’ publishers”, explains Ulrich Zabel, Managing Director of the telegate Media division. For its part, Google will benefit from the sales expertise of one of Germany’s biggest nationwide sales organizations, specializing in small and mid-sized companies.

German companies spend more than 1.2 billion euros per year on directory advertising. Most of their advertising budgets still go to printed industry directories. But customers are increasingly turning to the Internet and mobile devices to find businesses and service providers. Every third German surfs online today, instead of using a telephone directory. Small and mid-sized companies on the other hand have little marketing expertise in this area. Through its cooperation with Google, telegate Media will deliberately target this group. By booking an industry listing with telegate, companies can refine their basic contact data and, if they wish so, they can also purchase keyword marketing via Google as part of the package. This means that companies can be located on the basis of keyword entries in the search engine as well as in the specialized industry directories of the brands 11 88 0 and klickTel. The sales experts of telegate Media can also provide advice and recommendations to companies on how to best use their advertising budgets for search engine marketing.
